James Watson the “Nobel Prize-winning scientist who helped discover the molecular structure of DNA has become the first person to receive his own personal genome map.” Now that’s a thoughtful 79th birthday present.

NASA announced that their cute little rover Spirit uncovered evidence of water on ancient Mars. However, all is not sweetness and light here on Earth.

Overzealous background checks of veteran engineers are an unfortunate consequence of the moronic War on Terror. NASA Inspector General Robert “Moose” Cobb was recently described during a special House-Senate congressional inquiry as “abusive, vulgar, unprofessional and seemingly beholden to top management of the agency he oversees.”

Meanwhile, top NASA administrator Michael Griffin blamed National Public Radio for reporting on his comment that Global Climate Change is no big deal.

The Bush administration wants to drastically reduce satellite observation of Global Climate Change.

Michael Griffin tried to quietly cut the phrase “protect our home planet” out of the NASA charter. That’s right, “protect our home planet” was tossed into the Memory Hole until the New York Times found out about it.

These incidents are only the most recent in a long litany of outrages. Think Progress has been covering this ongoing saga since Day One.
