Virginia Tech: NBC’s real mistake

Filed under: Doodling — TCA @ 7:41 pm

It isn’t what you think.

I’m for freedom of the press. I support the decision that NBC News made to show America’s Ugliest Home Video.

However, NBC did make a mistake. They shouldn’t have opened the package. Remember when former NBC News anchor Tom Brokaw was sent anthrax in the mail after 9/11?

Heaven only knows what might have been in the parcel from Virginia Tech. What if the perp had a partner in crime who was a grad student? We live in the age of nanotechnology and genetic engineering.

There ought to be a law against civilians knowingly opening mail from a suspected terrorist.

U.S. taxpayers have surrendered countless billions of dollars to the Department of Homeland Security. This was a golden opportunity to get a small return on that investment.

Please, from now on, let the Department of Homeland Security open the letter.
